10 New Songs for a Great Date Night

Top 10 Date Night Songs

The next time you’re at the grocery store, I want you to play close attention. Studies have shown that more and more grocery stores find that piping “love songs” through their speakers boosts sales tremendously.

And it’s no surprise. When we hear songs that remind us of the ones we love, our hearts warm, we buy them things and sales go up.

Side Note: A girlfriend and I actually have an ongoing joke about who we’ll be hearing at our local Kroger and text each other sound bites.

Because if there’s one thing we know…before we hit the check out Celine, Whitney or Michael Bolton will have made an audio appearance.

Atmosphere really is everything. So in this month of love Chris & I want to do our part to help warm your heart to the one you love too.

Besides, you all know I love a good playlist!

I’ve given you playlists to: Get through the winter, play on a rainy day

and last year I gave you a HUGE 20 + Date Night playlist!

So in the spirit of love and generosity today I’m sharing with you 10 “new” songs to add to your date night playlist! They happen to hold a special place in our hearts and our hope is that they’ll bless your relationship deeply as well!

Happy Listening friends! Enjoy!

1. You are the Best thing -Ray LaMontagne

I don’t know why, but to me this is the PERFECT song to play in the kitchen, especially if you cook together.  It’s jazzy and soul full and just SO good

2. Thinking Out Loud -Ed Sheeran

If you’re unfamilar with this song, then apparently you went to zero weddings in 2015.  I’m apologize to all my indy hipster friends if this is too main stream. #SorryNotSorry

3. Signed, Sealed, Delivered -Stevie Wonder

Can we all just agree that every respectable Date Night Playlist should include a little Stevie?  Thank you and goodnight.

4. Overwhelmed -Tim McMorris

Ok, listen to this and TELL ME you aren’t picturing some kind of “summer love” movie montage…no? just me?  you’re not imaging rope swinging into a lake? *clears throat*

5. Dear Future Husband -Meghan Trainor

Because…Meghan Trainor.  AND because Like I’m Gonna loose You, although amazing (hello John Legend) is just a smidgen to sad for me. #TheresNoCryingOnDateNight

6. Confess -Shawn McDonald

This song is like a giant hug. It’s been one of my favorites for a long time

*Warning: there is no good version of this on Youtube. So please ignore the super bizarre video, just listen, the song is worth it 😉

7. Meant to be -JJ Heller

What’s your opinion on quirky songs?  Because I’m a Huge fan and this is super endearing.

8. Nothing Really Matters (Afrojack Remix Radio Edit) -Mr. Probz

I don’t always love a remix, but when I do, it’s this remix.

9. A Million Years -JohnnySwim

This song is unique and unexpected. I think you’ll like all the different dynamics. PLUS, this is a husband and wife duo and that just makes their songs even more special.  Also, the “wife” half of this duo is Donna Summer’s daughter.  So tuck that fun fact in your back pocket.

10. Have a Little Faith -John Hiatt

The purest in me, doesn’t want to like a cover more than an original, BUT in this case, I can’t help it.  That. Piano. There’s a few renditions of this classic, but this one is my favorite 😀

I hope these songs draw your hearts close and remind you of all the important things a midst all the busyness and messiness and ordinary-ness that is life.

Cherish each other even and especially on those busy and messy and ordinary days friends, it’ll serve you well. And tell please do tell…which songs are YOUR “must haves” for a Great Date Night? I love adding to my list 🙂

Until next time,

Meg

  3. I’ve noticed the grocery store is playing much better music now than it did when I was younger. It couldn’t be that I am old and they are playing music from my era now, could it? ha ha! Great list. Thanks for partying with us on the #FridayFrivolity party. I hope you will join us again next week.
