Did you all see the article that Huffington Post put out a while back “exposing” the Shamrock Shake in all its unhealthy glory?

 

Did it terrify you? Did it make you want to go and pout in the corner?

OR were you pretty much banking on anything from Micky D’s not being your healthiest bet?

The beloved Shamrock Shake has been a marketing staple for McDonald’s since the 1970’s. And who wouldn’t love the idea of something creamy, minty, and green to welcome in St. Patty’s day and everyone’s favorite season SPRING.

 

Weeelllll…anyone whose not willing to dump 822 empty calories into their body that’s who. Lol

 

I’m all for treats. And the occasional shake is not going to hurt you.

 

But we can do better kids. We can do SO much better.

  1. Have u tried making “ice cream” with frozen bananas? The texture is super creamy but can taste a little empty …. I tried it with peppermint extract and cocoa powder the other night and it was amazing….totally fooled myself into thinking I had dairy!

    • That sounds delicious! I love tricking myself 🙂 I have tried blending just bananas before and I agree, it can be a little lacking. I’ve heard adding stevia, salt, and vanilla extract can help. But I LOVE the chocolate peppermint idea 🙂
